Bird-Friendly Guidelines (Voluntary)

  • Reduce reflection and transparency by treating approximately 85% of the untreated window surfaces.

  • Incorporate bird-friendly treatments in future projects by applying external semitransparent stripes, dots, or other patterns on windows larger than 2m².

  • Secondary treatment includes closely spaced, window mullions, internal blinds and shades, ultraviolet patterns with greater than 20-40% reflectivity, tinting and angling of glass, and judicious placement of vegetation so that it does not reflect in the glass.
  • Enact a “Lights Out” program that runs from 11pm to 6am.
