More About  Paul

What inspired you to get involved in the important cause of Bird Conservation?

I am a hiker, mountain biker, and have always loved the outdoors, so when George and I sat down to discuss Feather Friendly®, I felt very connected to the conservation side of the business. To be a part of change was extremely interesting to me.

How do you feel about where the cause is at?

Bird conservation, and conservation and a whole, has come such a long way in the time I have been with the company, and it still has such a long way to go. However, I’m encouraged that we’re continuing to see progress and that awareness is growing by the day. We get to celebrate wins like the NYC bird safe guidelines as well as being asked to be a part of the CSA Bird Friendly Design committee.

What are your hopes for the future regarding Bird Conservation?

I hope that our bird conservation efforts and Feather Friendly® products continue to bring more awareness to this global issue, and that we can be a catalyst for change. We are aware that several municipalities in North America are looking at how they can add bird deterrent window markers to their building guidelines, so we hope to see more cities welcome new standards this year.

Favourite bird and why?

I’ve always been drawn to birds of prey – they just seem so majestic and regal! I have a vivid memory of being a young teenager and seeing an owl for the first time; I was at my grandparents’ house, about two hours north of Toronto, and this wild owl practically flew right at me! It was massive. I’ll never forget the size of its wingspan. During that summer, I spent a lot of my free time learning about owls and birds of prey.
