- Under the Environmental Protection Act of Ontario, light constitutes a contaminant (pollution) when it is emitted from reflective glass and windows and causes or is likely to cause an adverse effect, namely death or injury to birds.
- As such, commercial buildings must adopt measures that mitigate these effects of light pollution, or they can be charged with violating Section 14(1) of the EPA.
